The Evolution of PathfinderLink

Innovating Construction Management Software

While establishing our own construction company, we sought comprehensive management software to handle our dynamic and complex needs. Despite exploring various solutions for both small and large businesses, none met our expectations. Frustrated and desperate, we settled on a big-name brand in construction management software, only to find it lacking the promised functionalities. This led us to use multiple software platforms, which proved costly, confusing, and unreliable.

Determined to find a better way, we began developing our own budgeting tool that integrated with our existing software to track internal projects and finances. As our development progressed, we realized that our solution filled a gap in the market, and PathfinderLink was born. Today, we offer a unique and comprehensive solution for project management and time and materials tracking to companies facing similar challenges.

TURNING CHALLENGES INTO OPPORTUNITIES

The Origin of PathfinderLink

In 2015 we were working to get our construction company up and running. While doing this we looked for management software comprehensive enough to run the company. Our business was dynamic and complex, and we needed a solution that was robust and adaptable. We looked at solutions for small businesses as well as large ones, and we demoed several along the way. None of them did what we wanted or thought they should do. We did our due diligence and looked everywhere for the solution we needed but couldn’t find it. We were super frustrated but desperate, so we settled on one of the big-name brands in construction management software.

We started using this product, but it wasn’t long before our frustration escalated. We felt as if we were sold the dream and left to manage the nightmare. The things we had specifically asked about and expected from the software were nowhere to be found. We resorted to using several software platforms and worked tirelessly to combine the different brands and create one usable system. This became expensive and confusing. Worst of all, it was inconsistent and unreliable. We decided to build something of our own.

BUILDING OUR OWN SOLUTION

A New Era in
Project Management

We wanted to create a budgeting tool that connected to the software we were using at the time. We also wanted to track our internal projects and dollars. As we got further into our development it became clear that the solution we had created wasn’t available anywhere in the marketplace. So, what we had intended as no more than a bandage evolved into much more.

When it came time to renew our commitment to the software we were using in 2016, we had to make a decision. Should we keep that software and use it with the solution we had created, or should we further develop OUR solution? After talking with our developer we decided to commit to the latter. That’s when PathfinderLink was born. What we have developed is a unique and comprehensive solution to problems that many companies have. We are now offering that solution to anyone who manages projects and tracks time and materials.

WHY WE CHOSE SOFTWARE

The Genesis of PathfinderLink

We view it this way; there are 25 or so pieces to the entire construction management puzzle to put together. There are systems that do payroll, bill pay, HR, scheduling, job costing, invoicing, accounting, reporting, expense reports, asset management, manpower, estimate tracking, WIP reporting, goal tracking, data base management, and so on… Every time you add a software platform, you solve for 1-2 or maybe even 3 pieces to this puzzle. The problem can only be solved, or the puzzle piece in place, once the platform is implemented and being used to its capacity as intended.
